“There are not 32 backs out there who are better than me,” James said on Tuesday. “I want to continue to play. I can play at a high level.” He really need to work harder for getting chance of wearing chargers jerseys.
It is mostly likely that James’ most significant role in 2009 is to be a back up and get chance of playing if a team loses its starting running back to an injury. James may have been past his prime as he will turn 31 on Aug. 1, but we have to admit he still has something to offer. He rushed for 100 yards on 14 carries in Week 17 last year and he averaged 3.9 YPC on 61 postseason carries. So James could be still useful as a part-timer this season.
