Ravens coach Harbaugh plans to meet with veteran WR Mason

It was reported by the Baltimore Sun that Ravens coach John Harbaugh plans to have a talk with veteran WR Derrick Mason, who announced his intention to retire earlier this week:
Write For Pay

“We have an appointment to talk real soon,” Harbaugh said today. “It will be interesting to see where he’s at with everything. I know he’s been going through a lot the last couple of weeks with Steve’s [McNair] situation, but I’m looking forward to talking to him.”

Harbaugh doesn’t believe that the Ravens will seek to sign assumed-to-be-available receivers such as the Cardinals’ Anquan Boldin, the Broncos’ Brandon Marshall or free agent Marvin Harrison, even if Mason has made his final decision to retire. They just have no plan to chase player wearing minnesota vikings jersey.

“Obviously, if Derrick decides to retire, it’s going to perk us up even more as far as strengthening that position,” Harbaugh said. “But you can only do so much. There are only so many guys out there available, and a lot of what we do is develop the players that we have. I think there is a lot of time between now and when training camp starts."

It seems that Harbaugh does not think it is good idea for Mason to go retirement hopes to change something by having a talk with him.
