Big Ben did not play in Saturday game against Redskins

Although the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger travelled with the team to Washington, his injured tendon at last prevented from playing in the loss to the Redskins.

Getting hurt Thursday when left tackle Max Starks stepped his foot, Roethlisberger traveled with the team but sat out Saturday night’s game. It was Charlie Batch who took the job as a starting quarterback, finishing with 5 for 14 for 63 yards in Washington’s 17-13 victory.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after the game that Roethlisberger would not be out for long.

“Yeah, he’s fine. Well, not fine,” Tomlin said. “Of course, if he was fine, he would’ve played. But we don’t think it’s going to be a long-term thing at all.”
