Calf injury may keep Giants DT Canty out of Sunday game

The former Dallas Cowboys player Chris Canty now plays for the New York Giants. He would have been scheduled to return to Dallas and play against the Cowboys on Sunday; however, a calf injury may keep him out of that game.Write For Pay

Canty, who left Dallas to sign with the Giants as a free agent, was hurt in practice on Wednesday. He received treatment on Thursday while the team practiced. He missed practice on Thursday and his status for Sunday night’s game is still uncertain.

On Thursday’s practice, the Giants starting safety Kenny Phillips returned from his knee injury and practiced on a limited basis, but the other starting safety Michael Johnson did not take part in the practice with a shoulder injury. Coach Tom Coughlin, however, believed that both starters will be able to play by Sunday night.
